Dawn Ho Quartet

@ Paris Cat Jazz Club, Melbourne

Dawn Ho Quartet

presents

Monk And Miles

01st March. 730-930pm

Paris Cat Jazz Club. Melbourne.

Together with some of Melbourne’s most beloved jazz musicians, Dawn will perform works inspired and written by two great jazz legends, Thelonious Monk and Miles Davis.

Fascinated by the unorthodox and quirky approach of Monk as well as the relaxed, melodic and harmonic style of Miles, Dawn explores two contrasting energies of jazz from the eras of (hot) bebop in the 1930’s and 40’s to that of cool jazz and modal jazz from the 1950’s.

Drums - Ben Charnley

Bass -  Jordan Tarento

Piano - Mina Yu

Currently residing in Melbourne, Dawn is a jazz and samba singer and song-writer hailing from Singapore.

In the 16 years of her music career, she has released 2 jazz albums, All In Good Time (2009) with some wonderful artists from Paraguay and Hush Now (2016), an intimate duo album with Cuban jazz pianist, Gabriel Hernandez. Dawn is currently embarking on her 3rd record, consisting of her own original works.

Dawn’s vivacious and graceful stage presence has seen her perform in countless jazz arenas, music festivals and events around the world. Her unique vocal style is derived from the foundations of classical opera and her deep love for jazz, improvisation and storytelling.

Piano Botanica

@ Singapore Botanic Gardens,

   Shaw Symphony Stage

The 6th annual Piano Botanica at the Singapore Botanic Gardens see Indigo collaborating the incredible Mario Serio on piano!

INDIGO, the first band outfit in Singapore to offer authentic Brazilian-samba styled music from the '60s, samba funk of the ’70s and also Brazilian electronica.

This year's Piano Botanica will be a tribute to legendary Brazilian singer, songwriter & guitarist, the late João Gilberto who is referred to as 'Father of Bossa Nova' but unfortunately, passed away in July this year.

Each & every member of INDIGO has showcased his/her talent internationally from Asia (Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, China), to Australia, America, Italy, and Russia. INDIGO is all about the melodies & rhythms blending together, bringing about a solid groove with the energy to get people moving. Besides hits from João Gilberto, there will be songs from other Brazilian greats, needless to say, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Baden Powell, João Donato, Marcos Valle, Sergio Mendes, Maria Rita, and Djavan, so it will be a power-packed concert.

Bring your picnic baskets, friends, kids, and fur kids!! All are welcomed!! Looking forward to seeing all of you!!
